“And all of the departed in your mercy”
Writing, indie publishing, and the journey of an author.
Welcome to Quill and Inkwell, a place for stories, creativity, faith, and an honest journey of independent publishing.
Join me as I sharpen my writing craft, share what I learn about indie publishing, and continue building the worlds waiting to be explored.
I am Mary K. McAnally. Most importantly, I am a mother and wife; a bibliophile, an independent author, writer, poet, and lifelong believer in the power of words.
My work is inspired by my wild, dark, and moody imagination; truth; faith; mythology; nature; mystery; romance, fantasy; ghosts; hauntings; folklore; history; shenanigans; with a lot of chiller, thriller, drama, trauma, whimsy and wit.
I aim to write fictional stories that challenge readers to think, address uncomfortable truths and situations, step out of mainstream echo chambers, visit new worlds, and leave readers pondering the possibilities of “What if?” Or in some cases; "What the hell?"
When it comes to my non-fictional faith based works, I put in great amounts of research with due diligence to ensure their accuracy in ragards to Catholic Canon, theology, doctrine, dogma, historical fact, linguistic accuracy, and truth.
Tiny sparks of inspirations from day to day life light my inner flame for poetry. Even watching the sky, watching the grass grow, or stormfronts roll in, inspire me to jot down something lyrical.
My books are available on Amazon under the name Mary K. McAnally.

The Triduum of All Hallows Eve, All Saints Day, and All Souls Day
A Meditative and Contemplative Prayer Book, Journey, and Journal
Here I share what I am learning as an indie author—from writing and editing to book covers, ISBNs, and publishing platforms—all while creating without surrendering my vision.
“Never stop writing, because the truth is those words need not only to be heard, but also to be said.”
A few songs to write, dream, and wander through stories with.
Thank you for visiting Quill and Inkwell and supporting independent authors.
